Going for a Ultrasound scan

by rich3009, Jul 18, 2008 05:45AM
Having visited my doctor for the second time who can find nothing unusual with my left teticle by feel alone, im now going for an ultrasound scan.
I have had pain since February 2008 I get good days and bad days, the pain/ache is whilst im seated if i get up and walk around it fades. No lumps in my testicle although my epididymus type thing is sometimes feels swollen.

If this was a cancer would it have developed after 5 months into an obvious problem?

I am in the same boat as you man. I heard that it is fast spreading and would show symptoms, but anything is possible. I have that pain too, but I think I have a varicocele. I had an exam and doctor said everything felt okay. I am kind of scared to get an ultrasound. Good luck and post your results.

Im on Diclofenac for the pain not sure it has any effect, what concerns me is; if nothing shows up on ultasound, where to next?

I had similar symptoms as well and I ended up having a varicocele.  If you go in for a ultrasound make sure the tech asks you to push just like your doctor does when looking for a hernia.  I had an ultrasound that didnt show the varicocele becuase you have to be pushing in order for them to see it.

Hi,
Testicular cancer forms in a man's testicles and affects young men between the ages of 20 and 39. It is also more common in men who: have had abnormal testicle development;
have had an undescended testicle; or have a family history of the cancer. Symptoms include pain, swelling or lumps in your testicles or groin area. The cause of testicular cancer is unknown. Most cases can be treated, especially if it is found early. Aside from ultrasound, your doctor may order some blood tests to determine the levels of tumor markers in your blood. A high level of a tumor marker in the blood doesn't mean you have cancer, but it may help in determining diagnosis. Take care and keep us posted on your ultrasound.

To: hi
i think i have the same problem as your self, i had a ultrasound like 1 year ago and nothing, the tech didnt even say what the problem was, but still 2 years after i started feeling the pain its still happening, and the top of my testicle (left) the tubes feel alot more pushed up, if that makes sense. And the thing rich said about doc asking to push, i never got this, the doctor never said anything to me about pushing, just felt my left testicle and said i could have a cyst and then booked a ultrasound for myself.
