Trying after miscarriage

by Amgad, Jul 18, 2008 09:10AM
I started to miscarry 18 days ago. I had a natural miscarriage. I passed the sac around 4 days ago. How long before I can start trying again? I still have some very light spotting, but think it is pretty much on its way out. I took a pregnancy test this morning and it came back positive and my temps are still up. We haven't tried since the miscarriage. My Dr. said it was up to me when we started trying again. Anyone out there get pregnant right after a miscarriage. When did they start trying again. Everyone says this many days after. Days after what? When you stop bleeding or when you pass the sac or what? Should we start trying when my hcg levals are still up?

Amgad,  I'm sorry about your miscarriage.

I've had two early miscarriages,  and with the first we decided to get pregnant again right away - and did succeed the next month.

The thing is,  you have to be ovulating to "try" again.  It's very unlikely you're ovulating yet since your body is still in pregnancy mode.

You may ovulate two weeks from now - and if you do, could very well be successful.  There's a theory that after an early miscarriage you're actually more fertile - maybe some of the supportive hormones are still in place,  or a thicker lining of the uterus.

Best wishes for a healthy baby.
