Whether on Synthroid or Armour - depending on your hypothyroidism - that is where your swelling is coming from.
Your body is trying to get used to the added T3 and is not sure right now - how to react. Until you get to your optimal level - swelling may be a problem
I found terrific relief when my swelling is/was very apparent to use magnesium citrate. I really try to stay away from regular water pills. I take about 250 mg of the mag daily and at my time of the month when I bloat normally - I try to up that to 500. It also helps taking it at night to sleep better.
You have to realize that you need to be very careful of sugar - carbs - and regular sodium when on Armour. These are very bad for hypoT patients and must be minimum in our diets.
Your going to need to cycle a bit on the Armour for your body to get used to the added Natural Thyroid or Desiccated Thyroid, containing the same hormones that your own thyroid would produce–T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. There is a bit more T3 in Armour thyroid then what the human body produces - but ranges will vary.
Until your Free T3 levels are on the higher end of the ranges - or in some case above- hypo symptoms will be present.
