I am going to make a "blonde" assumption that you had a removal of your thyroid when you say surgery.
There could be a couple of thoughts.
Were your calcium levels checked? COuld they have knicked your parathyroid (s) ? Parathyroid damage can and will cause big acid problems
My other thought is if the parathyroids are not damaged - you could be undertreated with medication and your body is stuck in hypohe//. If so - being hypo (regardless IF your doctor is saying you may be normal) can slow the whole body down which will slow the acid in the stomach and cause severe heart burn/Gerd/Acid reflux.
Also in hypo cases - your PH levels in the body become unstable and that causes the icky acid too.
This is what I think may help you - First get that calcium checked! (serum and ionized with additional VitD and phorphorus)
Set you PH levels back by taking 2T apple cider vinager with 8oz filter water 2x's a day and sip it all day along with additional water. You should subside the acid . Make Gala apples a snack and night time treat everyday. About 2 apples a day is great.
What are your thyroid levels at --- at this time?
Hypothyroid patients actually have LESS acid in there GI track so taking an antacid is only hurting you more. You need to balance that out by actually producing MORE acid so the GI track can stir the food and nutrients up and move your system properly.
Anyway, I will try your remedy and see if it helps/works. Thanks!
