This is the Engagement ring

by K1990, Jul 18, 2008 04:04PM
I had my ring appraised and the diamonds are worth $700 so that is all we will get.  One of my fiance's friends is looking for a ring and may buy it but we told him $700 before we knew that's what the diamonds were worth so we can't squeeze anymore out of it, I don't think.  These are the two I like but can't decide if I like the big or little one, I usually like smaller but I donno, it is quite a difference!

I definitely like the smaller one.  It's a little bit more classier.

This is a first.  Everyone looking at rings to help pick one out.

Anyway, I'm very disappointed cause I couldn't see the rings.  Generic error or some such baloney.  Big Sigh.

well, usually i'd say get the set.....BUUUUT, why get a lil more than half a carat for the same price as a whole carat? and it "appears" that when the big day comes, you could just buy a slim solid white gold band for like $100(given you'll be able to save more money), that would slip nicely underneath.....the engagement ring shows character to me, the band the commitment.....

another option(and i hate the idea if you do lol), is to put the ring you have on ebay.....also, kay's is known for "cheap".....i'd look around, and see if you can find the same ring under a different maker.....with my 1st husband, i had a round cut 1/2 diamond, and in the 9 months we were married, the stone fell out 3 times! and i worked as a checker at walmart, so it's not like the ring got beat up!

I agree about Kays, you can actually find some nice rings at a jeweler that is reputable.  We got ours at a nice jeweler for about $2,000.  It's close to a carat.  If you get slightly under a carat it cuts the cost of the ring.
