Lips have tons of small "blisters" start off feeling dry then peel

My lips get tiny little blisters around where the upper and lower lip meet. This starts off as a clear almost the size of a pin ***** blisters where the lips meet. Then as the days go on my lips become completely dried out and start to wrinkle and then start peeling off! this has happened two times now and I have no clue if its an allergic reaction or something to do with herpes simplex virus?! It last about 4-5 days before the lips completely "shed" and heal themselves. It makes them very bright red and swollen. I'm at a dead end. Visited the doctor....he couldn't figure it out. Has anyone else had this?
I have herpes simplex and the last time i had an outbreak was at least 5 years ago. I only have it on my lip.

This doesn't sound like a herpes issue. I'd continue follow up with a dermatologist to try to get to the bottom of it. Meanwhile wear plenty of lip sunscreen/moisturizers.
