Is it Herpes

Immediately following sex 10 days ago I noticed a gouge or ulcer about 1/2 the size of a pencil eraser just above my penis on my pervic area. I recognize that it could not be from that encounter, but thought that it might be from a finger nail or ring and just a cut vs anything else.  There was no fever or flu like symptoms or any tingling or burning sensation prior.  There was also no redness around it and any significant pain... just an ulcer like opening.  I put a lot of vitiman E on it over the next 7 days and it started to heal slowly.  On day 8, I noticed about 5 pimples just to the left of it.  Scared me, but thought they may just be pimples from the oil of the vitimin E.  It's now day 10 and all is healed up excluding a little redness.  I did pop the pimples to promote a quicker recovery.  I've never had anything like it in the past and am concerned it may have been more then just a cut.  Any insight would be much appreciated.

The lesion you describe, if is related to sex is not an STD. It followed on far too quickly.  It could be trauma or a skin infection such as folliculitis.  Now that it has healed there is little to do but wait and see if it reappears, something that I think is unlikely.  Should it reappear spontaneously, at that time examination by a health care provider and a culture would be appropriate.  My guess is that it will not reappear.  I hope that is the case.  EWH

Based on the description, could it be herpes from a sexual encounter I had with a girl 5 days earlier?  It was without a condom, but the placement it odd as it's not on my penis and just above... almost as if I had a condom on, it would be the first and most probable place of contact.  It's weird in that it just appeared out of nowhere.  I just happened to notice following sex and that's why I thought it could have been a cut.

This would be an unlikely way for an initial episode os herpes to present.  EWH
