diabetic after triple bypass

My stepfather who is a diabetic, age 49, just had triple bypass (no heart attack). He has had both legs amputated within the past 6 years or so. A year ago he had gall bladder surgery, which he had gangreen on and about 2 months ago he started dialisys. He is also losing eye sight in one eye. I went to visit him yesterday, he had his bypass on thurs (1 wk & 1 day) ago. He seems to be very sleepy, no appetite and depressed. The hospital is moving him to rehab today to start getting him to move around and he is unhappy about this. My mother and I are very worried about him, my Mother just lost her brother a week ago to a massive heart attack in which he had a double bypass and had another heart attack after surgery. Is this normal for a diabetic? Thanks for your help.
