13 y.o male with constant nausea

by klm2813, Jul 18, 2008 07:10PM
My 13 year old son suffers from constant nausea.  He is somewhat better in the AM, then mid-afternoon into the evening he is sick to his stomach.  No vomiting, just nausea.  He no longer wants to eat, afraid that his symptoms will worsen.  He goes through bouts of this......a few days here, better for a couple of weeks, then a few more days.  This latest bout has lasted about a week.  He has a doctor's appt on Monday....but I'd like to be able to help him now!  He takes acid reduction pills....he reports they help a "little bit".  We've been monitoring his dairy intake questionong lactose intolerance but the symptoms remain without any dairy intake.  I hate seeing him like this....help!

As you have an appt on Monday you will be able to ask the Doc then, could he be reacting to the acid med, Does he have to take them are they prescribed or OTC if they areOTC, try him without them over the weekend and see what happens. When he gets these attacks has he just eaten or is he Nauseas without eating, Is he anxious about anything ,gets on well at school ?

The meds are OTC.  His reactions are generally 2-3 hours after he has eaten.  At first we thought he was anxious about school but now it's summer - relatively no stress- and the problem persists.  Someone mentioned the H.Pylori bacteria......I'm going to look into that some more.
Thanks!

Even OTC meds can be powerful,I would see how he does without them, and keep looking into it aswell, let us know how he is doing.
