I NEED HELP!!

by JACEM5, Jul 18, 2008 09:02PM
I have severe panic attacks, they are completely out of control at bedtime when I close my eyes to go to sleep, and because of that I rarely sleep. When I go to bed and lay down and close my eyes first the rapid thoughts start and that triggers a full blown panic attack.I have what my psychiatrist calls fear of impending doom (fear of dying) every little tingle or twinge in my body and I think there is something wrong with me.I also have PTSD and several back problems for which I'm on multiple pain meds.As for psych.meds I'm on Ativan,Librium, and Lithium, the pain meds are MS Contin and percocet.Anyway I don't sleep until exhaustion catches up with me and I just doze off before I realize it I'm asleep. This is causing me a lot of problems as you might expect.Ive tried all the tricks to talk myself out of the panic attacks, but nothing seems to work so far,and when I tell my psychiatrist he just throws more medication at me.Can anyone relate and/or suggest ANYTHING?Thanks.

hey-iknow how u feel and its very difficult to deal with !.. howeverr i cant give u any great advice or else i wouldnt be dealing with it as well! i dont know if mixing too many medications is a great idea though either. as for sleeping i would skip taking regular meds before bed and take some type of medication to help you sleep..
all the best = )
