if neuropathy, what kind?

by irishdef, Jul 19, 2008 12:00AM
i have had the same loss of detail in my entire body since may 23 when i was doing pushups. the numbness started in my back then gradually over 2 days covered the majority of my body. i went to the doctors a day later and passed blood tests, lumber puncture (lumbar mri) along with a chest x-ray. I have had twitching in my muscles but i believe that is from my spastic CP. a few days ago i started getting random cold "shots" on my body and some of those areas seem more numb then others next to them ( wrist, innner thigh).
the reason why i am hopeful it is just pinched nerves is because it feels like the the left side of my back is in knots and you can tell visually that it looks likr its tight.

i am getting chiropractic care until last week (right after i cancelled the appointment i started getting the cold "shots")
i also haven't had any muscle weakness, that i know of but i  have had cramps and twitching. (i also have cerebral palsy- spastic, and i use a walker so most of the muscle issues are typical i am just worried that my cp  might mask the neuropathy if i have it.)

please i would appreaciate any ideas of whats wrong.and give an outlook either way

also world excercise help any muscular neuropathy

ps i am setting up a neurologist appointment

Hello Dear,
Around 37% patients with cerebral palsy show abnormal nerve conduction, indicating one or more entrapment neuropathies. Patients with SCP develop severe joint contractures and deformities due to spastic muscle tone and limited muscle and joint use/flexibility; these contractures and deformities can, in turn, cause nerve damage, possibly as a result of the stretching, angulation or compression mechanisms in the anatomic fibro-osseous passages, where nerves are particularly susceptible.Your neurological symptoms of numbness, twitching, cramps seem to be due to cerebral palsy. You should consult a  neurologist and discuss regarding the neuropathic complication of cerebral palsy.
