dumping syndrome?

by spikebaby, Jul 19, 2008 01:40AM
I have seemed to be that way. within 5 minutes, not a moment longer after I eat, I am in the restroom. It don't matter what I eat bland, small or big meals, snacks, especially milk, juice, anything sweet whatsoever, sodas, cofferr or creamer in it, it just don't seem to matter. I will be in the bathroom so I cannot eat out anywhere at all, ever. I have had IBS for a few years and just found out that I have gastritis, but have had the h plouri and a hiatal hernia for about 6 years. The doc wants to do a gastric empty study as in 98 I was told I had gastroparesis. But now, and for the past 3 years or so, that seems to have changed to going to the restroom often even after only taking a few bites of something. Could this be dumping syndrome? I am trying to get a gi clearance to have the lapband operation in a few months but they are waiting on the results to this next gastric empty test. It jsut dont seem like gastroparesis to me. Any thoughts or advice?

Dumping syndrome is just the opposite of gastroparesis. In Dump. sy. your stomach empties faster than normal. And this can be seemn on gastric emptying test.

With dumping syndrome you would have other symptoms, like dizzines, fast heart beat, sweating etc.

Have you tried Probiotics?  I had the same symptoms for years memories go back to age 9, but as a teen-adult I  would go from dumping to constipation, but mostly dumping with sweats, bloating, rapid heart beat, etc.. I have been on Psylluim Husks powder to help with constipation which removes the good bacteria from you colon.   Probiotics (good bacteria) has saved the day for me.  I can go out to eat again and I don't have to find the bathroom in every store.
BUT, I have read there are some side effects with Probiotics, so check with a doctor first.  My sister is a Nurse and recomended that I try them.
