The MRI lesions are indeed characteristic of MS, especially if this is accompanied by the symptoms that you are experiencing. Other explanations for this lesions are small vessel problems in the brain which can be attributed indeed to your high cholesterol levels.
While the diagnosis of MS is a high probability, I believe it is still best to have your cholesterol controlled, and we will see if this will result in improvement of your symptoms. Who knows this might really just be due to vascular problems that would improve in cholesterol control (though at this point, it is nearly impossible to tell between MS and vascular problems, though the latter is more favored).
Inquire with your doctor regarding drugs called 'statins' like Lipitor, Zocor, or Crestor to aid in the lowering of cholesterol
Regards and God bless.
One thing I forgot to mention before. I have MVP. Would that, along with my high cholesterol contribute to lesions as decribed in my MRI? My PCP told me my "good cholesterol" was very high as was my bad, and that is why he chose to do noghint about it. MY Mitral valve Prolapse has been uneventful as of yet and am I am not being followed or treated by anyone. Was diagnosed abt. 12 years ago. I run, yoga, pilates, eat right, dont smoke, drink socially, no red meat...I'm doing everything right.
Should I explore the DX of MVP as a contributing factor? And could a 5 mm cyst in my sinus cause the same vertigo and headaches?
I'm grasping as straws here...Im way too busy to have MS!!!!!!
Again Doctor Paul.....this is a wonderful thing you are contributing...I can't explain it wel enough for you to cmprehend my sheer gratitude.
Thank you and God Bless you as well
