Pain After Temporay Crown

by westy825, Jul 19, 2008 02:45PM
I had a temporary crown done on one of my botton back teeth a week and a half ago.  The dentist had to give me 7 shots to get me numb.  I still have extreme throbbing on the right side of my mouth.  I take a pain pill b4 bed and I am usually good until about 1:00p.m. the next afternoon and then it starts really hurting again.  Is it normal to have this much pain a week and a half after?

Your tooth may have been fractured during your root canal. The pain you are describing sounds like this may have happened. Any mouth pain you experienced from the procedure should have subsided by now. Get  back in to your dentist ASAP and he will probably do an x-ray to check it. If it is fractured it will have to be extracted as there is no way to save it. You may look into a dental implant to replace your lost tooth. Good luck.

Going back to your dentist to have more occlusal adjustment of temporary crown is advised.
