hiv testing

by johnybygood, Jul 19, 2008 08:28PM
had hiv pcr by dna test 28 days after possible exposure.  Along with test i had a antibody test.  Pcr by dna came back negative.  Antibody came back non reactive..  Is non reactive a negative?  I have been tested for other stds. all Negative.  I have resumed normal sexual habits with wife after testing negatives.  It has been 58 days since possible exposure.  I am feeling discomfort under arm pits, the groin area and under my left ear.  (sharp pain in ear).  My wife is complaining of pain in pelvic groin area.  Could my tests been wrong.  I am concerned more for her now than my self.  Can someone please help me sort this out.  Is the testing accurate.

No. PCR- DNA tests are not diagnostic tests. You need an antibody test at 3 months to obtain your conclusive negative result. What was your risk?

Never mind I found your old post. You didn't have a risk of contracting HIV. MOVE ON.

are the test accurate.

by johnybygood, Jul 19, 2008 09:17PM
why take a Pcr dna if not accurate.  At the place i went to they tested an anti-body test along with the pcr dna test.  If Pcr-dna test is a bad test  then why do so many labs push for it.

Why take a test when you didn't hae a risk?

by johnybygood, Jul 19, 2008 09:35PM

by Teak, Jul 19, 2008 09:38PM

condom came off outside of her.  I put it back on and reinserted.  I went limp so she tried to get me hard with condom off.

The answers are not going to change. YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK.
