Could I be prego

by KathyJ38, Jul 20, 2008 10:52AM
I'm 38 years old had tubes tied and burnt 11 years ago.  I have only pissed my period twice in my life once when I was prego with my daughter 16 years ago and the other time was a 11 years ago when I was pergo with my son.  I'm always right no time.  I find myself 5 days late this month.   I did do a prego test but it was neg.  Just wanted to know if I should wait a couple more days before taking another test or should I take one 1st thing tomorrow morning??  Husband thinks it funny. I however don't think its funny one bite.  This would be like starting all over with kids again.

Don't get me wrong I love the two childern I have.  It just they are at the age now where me and my husband can go out without them or without getting a babysitter.  Sure some of you are going to call me selfish but you have to understand when I meet my husband I already had my daughter so we never had that normal dating stage and that is what we have been doing now.

Any info would be great

If your tubes are tied and burnt, you are NOT pregnant. Female sterilization is nearly 100% effective. "Burning" the tubes is even more effective (some doctors will just fold the tube over and tie it in case the mother changes her mind later).  If on the 0.001% chance you were, it would be an ectopic pregnancy that you would need removed.

People are just late sometimes.

well i know someone who's tubes have been tied for years and they had another baby, plus on this very site theres alot of women who were prego, and tubes were tied including a woman who tubes were burnt like yours shes a mom all over again, so yes no matter what other people think your body heals itself and if its gods will then you could very well be preg. believe me its more common now days to get preg with a tubal, mine have been tied for almost 12 yrs and i think i may be prego, i was spotting , something i have never done before i have 4 kids and i never spotted with them, and my stomach is very big like im bloated or prego, no im not having any pains of the abdomine so i dont know if it would be a tubal preg, but just to let you know that everybody dont know the real truth about tubes being tied like they think, cause theres more than a 1% on this very page that has a child even though their tubes were tied, and that made me a real believer, cause i didnt think that i could get prego again,

The chances of becoming pg at 38, after having your tubes burnt, 11 years ago, is pretty slim to none.

However, if you were to become pg you'd be at higher risk for an ectopic pg which is dangerous.

Take another pg test in 1 week if you've not gotten your period.  If still negative, call the doctor.  They'll do a blood test and rule out an ectopic pg.

Good luck!

You are 38 and your cycles can start to change in your 30's, especially as you approach your 40's. I highly doubt that you would be pregnant. It's not impossible, but highly unlikely. You could test again in a few days if you haven't gotten AF just to set your mind at east. It's not uncommon for women to experience late or missed periods occasionally throughout their reproductive years.
