Speech Spasticity

by Espelho, Jul 20, 2008 11:36AM
Hello,
My father suffered a stroke back in march, and was in a coma for about a month, he then slowly started coming out of it, where he would open his eyes, feed through the mouth, focus on things and even compose sentences. a month ago though he stopped feeding through the mouth and we had to put the levine back in. However, following this he has developed spasticity in various forms, his right arm and shoulder is seized up, his left leg constantly kicks and the most disconcerting is that he has stopped speaking and has developed a spastic cry/scream (he screams about every 10sec or so). Doctors are uncertain about if this is caused by another small stroke, but what I want to know is if anyone has experienced anything like this in their cases, and if the patients came out ok. Any treatments that were used would also be great just so I can compare with what is being done so far.

Thanks!
