Relieving pain and discomfort from anal warts

by Tessle, Jul 20, 2008 02:26PM
I have anal warts and have scheduled surgery to remove them in a month. But in the meantime I'm having some discomfort and pain from them, primarily after bowel movements. With large BMs or hard stool, i have some bleeding, and they become irritated. Is there anything I can do to help aleviate the pain and discomfort in the meantime that won't make the situation worse?

I had internal anal warts removed just a week ago.  All I could suggest in the meantime is asking your doctor for a prescription of lidocaine gel.  It's helps numb the pain after the surgery.  I also saw your post on which method to use for removing anal warts.  My doctor did electrocaldorize.  She told me using a laser wasn't good b/c the smoke can transmit the virus to other areas internally... what the actual risk of this is or percentage of chance I'm not sure.  I also think the method depends on the location of the warts.
