Anybody taking mega-shots for vitamin D?

by AR-10, Jul 20, 2008 05:15PM
rohit_786 is having trouble with his vitamin D, despite taking supplements. He is also having mouth sores and is wondering if there is a connection.

Anyone taking those 50,000IU shots or had experience with them you could share?
He has a thread running, but all he is getting is me, and I'm not helping much.
:o) Thanks.

I don't think mouth sores is related to vit D. I've been reading  his posts and he had those problems before Vit D shots. I've been reading about Vit D and didn't find anything. But can be related to other vitamins deficiencies.

I don't have those kind of mouth soars and canker soars , it just occasionally  show up some very small canker soar which may not be canker soar as it is not painful at all and some time cold soar in my lips which are as well not painful . Since i diagnosed Hashi/Hypo i am seeing on and off those kind of soars before that i don't remember i had it .. So thought could be related to thyroid or some sort vitamin deficiency all i came up is Vitamin D only  no other deficiency i found so far , B12 is fine and other as well.
Anyone has any experience with Vitamin D high dose what AR-10 mention. I have been taking Vitamin D around 2000IU for last 2 months but it instead of increase it went down or pretty much stay same.

My Vit D levels were consistantly low everytime I had bloodwork done.  Although I'd been taking suppliments AND sitting by the pool everyday, I still couldn't get my levels up.  Last week my doc perscribed the 50,000IU Vit D pill you take once weekly (a month's supply).  I've only taken one (this last Wednesday), so I'll have to get back to you with results, but I did feel a bit better on Thursday....  I don't have mouth sores, but I thought that was related to Vit C deficiencies???

I'm taking Drisdol 50,000iu once a week and I think I've already spoken to rohit_786 about it. But, I can add that I spoke with my pharmacist  the other day about something and we started talking about the Vitamin D and he said that the Drisdol (prescription D) is a different form and much better absorbed type of vitamin than what you would get over the counter.  It slowly builds up your stores over time.  It's not the same thing as what you get from the sun.

Thanks Liz94 and others , i have my doctor appointment tomorrow to discuss Drisdol option. I don't have severe cold sore and canker sore but occasionally have small not painful could be canker sore. Just  curious to know if that is because of vitamin D deficiency or could be thyroid related.
Thanks for every one for sharing your story with me.
