Leg cramps/Charlie Horse sign of pregnancy???

by junebug1978, Jul 21, 2008 10:14AM
I'm wondering if anyone has ever gotten a "Charlie Horse" and later found out they were pregnant. I know there is a  chance I could be pregnant because I had unprotected sex about 8 or 9 days ago. Last night I woke up in horrible pain from a Charlie Horse in my calf. The ONLY time I've ever had one other than that is when I was pregnant with my son. That was towards the end of the pregnacy though. Has anyone else gotten one early in pregnancy? The only other symptom I'm having is being more sensitive to smells...everything stinks to me, lol. Thanks!

I didn't start having leg cramps until my second trimester, and now I get them pretty much every night - it is awful!! But it was not an early pregnancy sign for me. The sensitivity to smells, however, definitely was. That started right away for me and hit it's peak around week 8.

Make sure you're staying very hydrated, eating a balanced (vitamin rich) diet, and getting plenty of exercise/activity/stretching in - those things can contribute to leg cramps. Best wishes!

I don't remember the leg cramps until later pregnancy, but they are definitely a symptom!

I did have some leg pains in early pregnancy, before I knew i was pg.  Anything is possible.  Do a test, the only way to know.

Thanks everyone! I took a hpt & it was negative, but since I would have conceived july 14 or 15, I'm prob testing too early. I feel like AF is on her way....I'll keep you posted!

hi,
i get the leg cramps badly since about 27 weeks.  My doctor says it's due to low calcium or low potassium stores.  I very much doubt that the baby would be causing this so early on.  I'd say drink more water, take calcium supplements and eat a banana a day.  You may also benefit from an overall physical exam if you haven't had one lately.  Good luck!

I DID A PREG TEST BUT IT SAID NEG BUT LAST NIGHT I GOT REALLY BAD CRAMPS IN MY CALFS ALL LAST NIGHT I KEPT WAKING UP WITH THEM, THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS COLD.  NEVER KNEW THIS WAS A SIGN OF PREGNANCY AND I HAVE 3 KIDS ALREADY, AND NEVER HAD IT BEFORE. COULD I BE PREGNANT EVEN THOUGH I HAD A NEG TEST.
