Hashimoto, thyroid nodules & cyst

by mtvernon, Jul 21, 2008 11:42AM
I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto disease & hypothyroid. Tthe Endo suggested that I go for an ultrsound of my thyroid gland.  The test showed that I have 3 nodules on the left side & 1 fluid filled cyst on the right side.  Two of the nodules are a little larger than 1 centimeter & the cyst is almost 1 centimeter.  So I have to go for a biopsy on those. It is getting more difficult to swallow & the left side of my throat always feels sore. Sometime, I also have a bit of difficulty beathing. And it seems to take forever to digest my food.  I get full very fast & cannot eat very much.  So I would love for my endo to treat this.  But to complcate matters, I have SVT & the endo says that he cannot treat the Hashimoto or hypothyroidism because of this.  He also said that even if he does attempt to treat me, there is no guarantee that the treatment will work. FYI, I do plan on going for a coronary ablation, in the near future so that I can receive treatment.  But in the meantime, I am getting very frustrated.   Any comments or  suggestions, would be greatly appreciate.

I'm recently diagnosed with Hypo and thyroiditis (maybe Hashi's today), I have a solitary lesion 2x2x2cm. I'm very sorry to hear what you are going through and as I don't have any medical advice for you, I just wanted to tell you to hang in there! My thyroid condition has been a long process as well it took a year just to get diagnosed this far. We still don't know what we are going to do about the lesion. It is not an overnight process and can be frustrating, just know that there will be an end to it! I wish you the best, and will pray for you. God Bless!
