Lump Found

by worried_78, Jul 21, 2008 01:41PM
I am 29 years old..and i just had my physical done a week and a half ago and my doctor found a lump on my left upper breast..She has referred me to get a mammogram and ultrasound done..My mammogram is scheduled for this comming Thurday..and I am worried sick...About the mammogram and the results..I do have pain in my left breast, an aching, almost like a bruise.  I have no history of cancer in my family, however i believe that is not always a deciding factor. Can anyone refer me to a website with more information?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

Dear worried_78, A new breast lump is something that should be checked out.  It doesn’t mean that it is breast cancer but having it evaluated makes sense.  You are doing the correct thing having this new lump checked out.  Mammograms and ultrasounds both give different types of information about a finding.  This information is helpful in terms of deciding whether anything further needs to be done to evaluate the lump.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I hope your mammogram/ultrasound went well today and that there is nothing wrong.
Best wishes,
Hazel
