adenosine stress test

by country03, Jul 21, 2008 04:12PM
My mom went to see a Heart Specialist and he recommended the Adenosine Stress Test.  She is not having any chest pains, but this he said would make sure there are no blockages.  I would like more information about this procedure and is it dangerous?  Another doctor had recommended a stress test that involved putting something in her veins and it would make her heart speed up.  This Heart Specialist said no, and that this Adenosine Stress Test is not the same thing.  Can you help me understand exactly what this is and how it works,  and if it is dangerous and what side effects could she have.  Thanks  Country03

I tried that web site and the page has been shut down.  Do you have any other information on this Adenosine Stress Test?  I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks Country03

I'm sorry, the link got cut off. Just go to www.clevelandclinic.org and type into the search box, in the upper right hand corner of the page, "adenosine stress test" the page will show you a link to the site I've been trying to help you get to. Good luck.:)
