Flashes of Light in Peripheral Vision after Heart Attack?

by Sherlock26, Jul 21, 2008 05:31PM
I had a HA in May and saw flashing lights in my peripheal vision for about 2 wks.  They went away and then I had a sinus infection with spread throughtout my body and I developed endocarditis.  I started seeing the flashing lights again, does this mean anything to you.  It is important to stay focused in the heart and brain area - like signs of heart condition and/or stroke.

The flashes could represent a posterior vitreous detachment, especially if they are sporadic for a second or so and worse with movement.  Rarely a TIA or transient ischemic attact can cause flashes in the vision for a few seconds to a few minutes.  A visual migraine would cause flashes with zig zag lines lasting for 15 to 20 minutes.  These are three possibilities.  Regardless, you shoud make an appointment to see an EyeMD ophthalmologist for a complete exam.
