Pet Stains

by lindasp62, Jul 21, 2008 06:42PM
I had my carpets cleaned the other day.....various sick-cat messes....won't go into detail...I'm sure you get the picture....:-)

but anyway, the carpet cleaner guy told me that for pet messes, one should use an acid (vinegar) to clean up the acid messes (urine, vomit, etc), NOT an alkaline cleaner (like a soap).  I was wondering why my clean-up jobs always left more of a mess than the cat had!!!

Just thought I'd pass along this info. as I am sure we have all had to deal with this issue!!!!

At our cattery we use a little automatic dishwashing power in the bottom of a squirt bottle well mixed. Saturate the stain with mixture then using toilet paper roll up a bunch onto your hand then place the pack of paper over the wet area and stand on it put pressure on and off so that it soaks up the water and with it should come the stain. Use a clean whod of toilet paper for each application. It is color safe and normal takes out the stain and the smell and is very cheap. If your carpet is dirty you will have a very clean patch in contrast so you may have to clean the rest of the carpet.
