Complex Cyst, Adenomyosis and Uterine Polyps

by Bregirl, Jul 21, 2008 07:39PM
Two years ago I had a cyst removed from my right ovary and all the symptoms went away.  Several months ago the symptons started coming back.  I went to the Dr and she sent me for an US and they found a Cyst on my Left ovary (3x3x2).  She told me she wanted another US in 2 months, I had it done on Friday.  The Dr called today with the results of the US, the cyst is has grown and is complex, I have Adenomyosis and Uterine Polyps.  Has anyone heard of having all three of these at the same time?  What type of treatment do they do on this? Should I be worried about cancer?  The Dr is sending me Wed to have blood work done and I go to the Dr next week to talk to her on what we are going to do.  I am kind of worried so any input would be nice.

I had 2 softball sized dermoids, uterine polyps and adenomyosis.  I had the dermoids and ovaries removed Dec, 2005 and a complete hyster June 2006.  Adenomyosis is a type of endo but on the inside of the uterus.  The uterine lining keeps growing and the uterus keeps trying to "shed" and thus you are constantly cramping.  It feels like you are pmsing 24/7.  My pain was so severe and I was constantly taking pain meds.  After the hyster, I felt so much better.  It was a relief to not have the pain.  I did not realize how much pain I was in until it was gone.  The only way to truly dx adenomyosis is by removing the uterus and doing pathology.
As for the cyst, only pathology will tell you what it is.  This is usually done laproscopically.  Although 99% of cysts are benign, it is wise to have this checked out.  I am glad that you have a dr. who is concerned and will continue to keep your health a priority.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the information.  I was told when I was 20 by my OBGYN that I had an unlevel sheding of the uterus.  I am now 35 and when I mentioned it to my last doctor (not the one I am seeing now) he said he had never heard of such a thing.  Do you think that this has something to do with the Adenomyosis I have now?
