I am an ovarian cancer survivor. 7 years this past feb. I then had a hysterectomy plus he took my appenditis too. It was in my right ovary and partly on my follopian tube and it was scrapped off my uereter. Did chemp for 4 months I believe it was tolerated it well. I have always done my Ca 125  its usually 3, 6,1,6,2 etc. The previous one was nov 07 a 3.   I wanted it done again so we did It  was a 25 normals were 0-21.So I freaked out!!!! My recent mammogram normal, my yearly pap normal, so she said to  call my cancer doctor i did we retook test( 2 weeks later) its a 28. still freaking!!!
The only change I ve made is i went off my Premarin 0.3 cold turkey in oct 07  no problems !! few hot flashes but I feel fine! I just use a fan!

In jan 08 i was taken to the hospital cause I had burning pain in my chest below my sternum and my belly was hurting and hard diahrehea (sorry spelling) for 5 days. Also elevated WBC in urine( infection) they did Ct of abdomen and pelvis no masses no blockage so treated it as gerd which Ive had for awhile it just never acted this bad. So now Im on Nexium daily and try not  to do caffiene sodas and watch my chocolate so it doesnt effect my tummy. Feels much  better!  lately I have this feeling of needing to urinate it feels like a pulling sensation like where my ovaries use to be and where my incision was (which was my c section scar) strange> Any thought on why my ca125 went up? could it be hormonal changes being off meds or maybe nexium?? I have another ct scan tomarrow...whats your take on this .IM REALLY FREAKING OUT NOW All the nurse tell me in  dont believe what you read on the net!! My husband said he didnt feel any urgancy from my doctor it felt as if he was being very thorough.
Thanks!
my thoughts and prayers are with all

On a ca125 anything below 35 is normal anything above and they start looking. The important thing right now is to listen to your body. 2 years ago I had all the signs and symptoms of a return of the cancer nothing ever did show up on xrays,ct scans, pet/ct scans etc etc it took exploratory surgery to actually find it. If your not having any symptoms and with your ca125 still within normal range, I wouldn't sweat it.

Congratulations on being a seven year survivor!!!! I hope and pray for only a good outcome to your current symptoms. I'll keep you and that precious family in my thoughts. Keep us all apprised of how you are doing. WE CARE!!!!

Hugs,
Shari

Your CA125 could have gone up from the uninary tract infection and or the change in meds -- don't panic yet --- it's not as reliable an indicator as we all give it credit for -- any inflamation in the body can cause a change in the numbers -- hopefully the CT scan will show absolutely nothing and your numbers will calm down again
Good luck to you and best wishes -- and 7 years is great!  I've had it 3 times in 5 years......

You sound like you could have another UTI going on,and that would make your ca-125 rise.  The Dr. look for a trend of upwards before they do anything.  So I would ask then to pull another ca-draw in a onth.  In the meantime maybe you should see the Dr. and do a urine test for the UTI,just to make sure it's not an infection causing the rise.  Good luck~~~~Joanne
