Pain in thoracic spine area

by glorita65, Jul 21, 2008 09:05PM
I have been experiencing pain in my mid back (thoracic spine) for several years, mostly when I stand for certain length of time.  Sometimes I feel as thought I can't take in enough oxygen when breathing. I had an MRI of the cervical spine without contrast done 3 1/2 yrs ago. Technique:  Sagittal T1, T2, coronal Stir and axial Tx weighted gradient images were performed.  The Findings: The cervicomedullary junction is normal. No inferior cerebellar tonsillar ectopia is present. The cervical spinal cord is normal in diameter and signal. No intramedullary lesion and no syringohyromyelia are present. Changes of spondylosis are present in the cervical spine with straightening of the normal lordotic curve. Marrow sinal in the cervical vertebral bodies is normal.  C2-C3 and C-3-C4 levels are unremarkable. C4-C-5, C5-C6 shows disc desiccation, disc flattening and broad-disc bulge with marginal endplate osteophytes. Minimal to mild neural forminal compromise is present. Moderate central canal stenosis is seen. Minal to mild neural foraminal compromise is present. C6-C7 shows disc desiccation disc flattening and broad-based disc bulge with marginal osteophytes. No significant neural foraminal or central canal stenosis is present.  The C7-T1 level is unremarkable.

Could this be causing the pain I get when I stand for long periods of time?  Sometimes I have to lie down in order to get some relieve.
