I just got diagnosed with Pancreatitus

by stephierocks, Jul 21, 2008 09:16PM
I am 23 and just got diagnosed with Pancreatitus... I have had a wide variety of medical problems growing up, a few years ago I had my gallbladder removed. And now due to being an alcoholic and a past drug user my pancreas is prettymuch shot. I am honestly really scared cause it is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life... I was hospitalized last month and the pain was so bad I was pulling out IV's and anthing touching me screaming at the top of my lungs, no pain medication even touched it really... And myself I am a small person (4'11") and weighed 135 last month and am now down to 105 I really dont think that is healty... the thing that scares me is I cant see a doctor, I dont have insurance and cant afford it I dont even have a job cause I have been sick. I looked it up and see that people actually die from it. Is it normal for your muscles to ache and to feel sick all the time? my chest always hurts and I just feel slugish now... is there affordable medication? and is there anything to make it better?  They didnt inform me very much about it at the hospital just gave me some pain meds that really didnt help... so I really dont know where to go or what to do...

There are unfortuantely no medications that can be taken to try to treat pancreatitis. The only thing that is given is some specialized digestive enzymes and dietary changes. If the pain is very severe it needs to be managed by a pain specialist.

When a person has pancreatitis, everything can hurt and their bodies may seem to just 'drag.' No energy and a lot of fatigue.

You need to check with your local hospital or clinic and see if they have programs to help you.
