twitch from facelift

I had a facelift a year ago.  I had my nasal labial folds plumped with fat from my abdomen.  I had significant swelling.  Now that the swelling has gone down, I notice a twitch on the right side of my face at the nasal labial area and a little swelling.  My surgeon says it has nothing to do with the surgery but I do not buy it.  I did have a tooth abcess a few months after the surgery and had significant swelling from that.  He is saying that it could be from the tooth abcess which was in the back of my mouth.  What do you think?  Will it go away?  He said to come back in 6 mo.

I presume the twitch you note is related in muscle action of the small facial musculature.  This is a highly unusual complaint that I have never seen in my practice of over 30 years.  It may be due to irritation of a branch of the facial nerve or the muscle itself.  It can also result from hypercalcemia, and therefore totally unrelated to the surgery or your subsequent abscess.
