Complication from surgery, which was done on 7/14/08

by rosebud62, Jul 21, 2008 10:43PM
I had to see my gyn today, I found out why I was in so much pain.  It has been exactly a week since my surgery.  I had a seroma that developed under my incision.  My gyn had to lance open the incision, and tried to reduce the seroma.  I go back Thursday to see how it is doing.  My bleeding had almost stopped.  I also asked him about taking HRT since I had a bilateral mastectomy, but his comment was no way!  He said I could still develop cancer where my breast once was, which I thought that was the purpose of having the bilateral mastectomy.  I guess I will have to go through the menopause on my own.  Just wanted to let everyone know.  I still ask for all the prayer warriors to pray, as I pray for everyone on this site!  Prayer works, and the power it has is Wonderful.  God is Soooooo Good.
God Bless Everyone,
Dee

Seromas develop now and then; sometimes they are left to re-absorb and at times they are drained (such as yours was) and at times another drain is inserted. I would think your Surgeon should have been contacted as he would normally be the one to treat this problem.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hi, the surgery I was referring to was my overies and fallopian tubes removed.  I did not know this would occur with this type of surgery.  I knew this is a possiblilty with mastectomy, which, thank God, did not happen when I had it done.  But I am on the mend.  Thank you for the comment.
