Question for my Grandma - any information would be great.

by Me967, Jul 21, 2008 11:04PM
Hi.  My Grandma has had issues with DVT's in her left leg in the past were she was put on Coumadin in which they gave her too much and she started to bleed internally 1 1/2 yrs ago.......  Long story short.

She has been having her left leg swell and turn red but not hot.  Her left foot and ankle swells quit large almost on a daily basis but mainly at night?????  She had a venous doppler ~6 months ago that showed no sign of a DVT and they said that it is normal for her at her age.  Her BP is good.

God bless her she does 25 leg raises on each leg twice daily, is 90 years old and totally with it mentally.  I told her she has to walk from the living room to bedroom at least 1-2 times daily to keep the circulation going in her legs and then elevate them often also.

She IS my world and it bothers me that this swells out a inch or two daily.  She does have a good heart, takes BP med's, and a water pill EOD.  If anyone would have ANY input on this it would be greatly appreciated.  I love her VERY much and was just curious.

Take care and thank you;  Amy
