Brain fog! Holy Cow!

by medicmommy, Jul 22, 2008 12:29AM
I thought I'd left most of the brain fog behind as I'm nearing the end of my treatment...How wrong I was...Tonight, I took my daughter to her soccer game, only to discover I was wearing two different colored shoes! (Same style, though! :) )
And then driving home I turned the wrong way on a one-way street! OMG! Needless to say, I scared the "peanut butter"out of myself and my daughter...I stayed on the back roads the rest of the way home and made it without further incident...Jeeze, you'd think a person would get some warning!                                     ~Melinda
Dang, that reminds me...Shot night tonight..then 2 more to go....

I know that must have been a bit startling, but I hope you can laugh at it now that you've made it home  -- glad no oncoming traffic on that one-way!

My husband does stuff like like every so often, but he's not even on treatment yet!... ;) Can't imagine the roller coaster ride I'll be in for lol.

Counting down with ya,

Melinda,

I am on week 30, and i am finding that this week as been one of the worst for brain fog.  I am forgetting words in the middle of a sentence.  I am posting and mispelling or forgetting entire thoughts and sentences.  I have magellan the map person tell me how to get home from work, because i kept missing my exit.

You keep countin down!

I know Im going on week 36 and words disappear in middle of sentences, get into car dont know what to do first. Get very rattled by everything. I go in a room and forget why Im there. Its very scary...........I feel totally disconnected.

On my first treatment i think the brainfog was the most scaring part, thought it was gonna be permanent only worse as time goes by.

But since i had a break of 10 months between tx, and the fog went away in just 2 weeks I´m not a bit scared this time around, dont even bother me.

I'm a little new but did you have what you are calling brain fog before or after treatment?  Sorry if this is a stupid question .

Isn't it funny - for some reason I expected that because I'm nearly finished with tx I'd feel better just because the end is near.  But I guess knowing the end is coming just doesn't get the oxygen to the old brain.  I'm still having bursts of wicked brain fog and if I don't get up now and go get my procrit I won't have the strength to raise my arms to scratch my itchy head!

Two more weeks - WAHOO!!!

No information-seeking question is a dumb question...Never hesitate to ask...I had brief moments of "brain fog" prior to treatment...very subtle though...Like having trouble concentrating for long periods of time, and remembering things I didn't write down..When I started treatment, I was in week #2 when I was driving back from a Dr appt on the freeway and I forgot I was driving for a moment! FREAKY! -Not to mention it scared the poo out of me! (Well, not literally..LOL) It was constant after that...Forgetting what I was saying in the middle of sentences...Forgetting (20 mins after I took them) if I had taken my Ribavirin or not...(TG for pill minders!) I used to spell and write very nicely, and be able to do sign language without thinking about it...Now, my 9 year old daughter is better than I am...But, this is all temporary...Don't let us scare you...Most side effects are more annoying than anything...  ~Melinda

I am right behind you!!!! 2 1/2 weeks and counting! I'm already fantasizing about having enough energy to get back in shape, mow ALL my yard at once, and be able to play more than 5 mins of soccer with the daughter...LOL..Funny the things we take for granted...I think I just may take up karate..I've always wanted to...and finish RN school...and get a clawfoot bathtub so I can sit up to my chin in bubbles...and have my entire family over for Thanksgiving...yep. I'm making a "bucket list"... :)  ~Melinda
