question about post PT or TT

by Linda1068, Jul 22, 2008 08:56AM
I am not sure exactly how to ask this, but here it goes. Did anyone, after their PT or TT have a feeling in their throat like something was stuck in there? I had a PT almost 3 months ago and as time as passed, the feeling in my throat has changed from tightness/fullness to feeling as though... Ok, I have to describe it in order for someone to understand. It's like when you are ill and have to vomit and you vomit partially digested food. You know, when you can feel the half chewed food pieces stuck in your throat and you have to vomit it up.  I know this sounds totally gross but how else could I describe it.  Is there something in there? I know right after the surgery I was coughing up mucus (which was told it would happen).   If this is not normal, should I call my doc?

I did not get that feeling after my TT. I have heard some people did after thiers, but I never did. Sorry can't be much help.

You should call your doctor and explain the feeling to them and see what they recommend.

I would call your doctor .. could this be scar tissue is my thought?  And that is a tough one to diagnose cause it doesn't show up on ultrasound!

Maybe your esophagus is something going on ... something causing it to get that gag reflex?  I am not a Dr., but definitely call .. this is not right .. An ENT may do a scope which is pretty painless .. that may be in order .. ask about an ENT after you touch base with your Dr and PLEASE make sure you come back to let us know ..

I definitely had / have that feeling, and I know lots of othter that have had it too.  It was explained to me (by my surgeon) as scar tissue that is still healing.

Its almost like phlegm that you cannot clear - or cotton in your throat.  Its a horrible feeling.

If you are at all concerned ask your doctor just to be sure.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

If anyone else has had this feeling, please comment. I don't think I'll make it to the docs today.

thanks.

Thanks D.   You know exactly what I'm talking about.  How long did it take to heal for you or are you still healing?
