ear pain, headaches, crackle when swallow, dizzy

by yaheythere, Jul 22, 2008 09:07AM
Following an ear infection I have been a bit dizzy for a couple months, docs didnt know why. Lately, one side of face/head gets brief shooting pains (not very intense) around temple, cheek, nose, ear, sometimes neck. Doc gave me allegra-d (assuming that this is all allergy related and that I have fluid in my head that needs to be dried up) but the allegra-d barely helped. After a month of the meds, I still get the head pains, and now my ears crackle/pop everytime I swallow. I can hear all my jaw movements echo in my head (I went to dentist to rule out TMJ). None of this bothers me until 1 hour after I wake up. Any ideas what this is?

Hi,

The symptoms and the disorders which you have brought out here indicate that you may have some kind of fluid or infection in the ear or eustachian tube. Further, there are a few nerves in the vicinity of the ear and these might be getting irritated because of the fluid or blockage.

You may have to go back to another doctor if this doctor has not been able to diagnose or understand this condition. It is important that the eustachian tube is patent (open) to allow the pressure on both sides of the tympanic membrane to remain constant.

I hope this helped you. Let me know if you may need any more information
