How long should I try before I need to worry I cannot get pregnant?

I had the IUD Mirena removed on 17 June 2008 and the 19th started what I thought was a period. I bled for three days, and prior to birth control I had longer periods, but I still counted this as a period. From then, I estimated when I should be ovulating and had sex every other day and then everyday during that window. I haven't had any sign of a period and it has been 33 days so I tested just in case and it was negative. How can I maximize my chances and is it normal not to get pregnant the right after removing the IUD. I appreciate any responses, I was extremely bummed out that our efforts did not take. Thank you!

If you are in your early to mid 20's, they don't really get concerned until you have been trying for a year.  If you are older, after 6 months without success usually merits looking in to.

Test again in a week.  You might have ovulated later than you think.  Your periods might also be irregular for a couple of months after removal.
