need help

by Mel0829, Jul 22, 2008 11:42AM
Had a tick bite 15 days ago.    7 days after tick bite began to feel nausea and slight headache, general ill feeling.   went to acute care, doctor did bloodwork, came back positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted fever.    Doctor called me in to the office and prescribed Doxycycline immediately.  Went to an infectious disease specialist 4 days later and he discontinued the antibiotics.  does this sound reasonable?   I'm very concerned and confused at this point.   I've never had severe, classic symptoms of the disease.  No fever at all.   Any help would be appreciated.

I found that treatment of Doxycycline is a common antibiotic for the illness.  So it doesn't make much sense to me that the specialist would've taken you off it unless after reviewing your tests again the first dr. was mistaken.  Did you ask questions at that point why the second dr. was discontinuing treatment and ask for information on what you should be on the look out for?
