Followup MRI after Brain injury

by CelticCross, Jul 22, 2008 11:46AM
Had a follow up mri of a brain injury - what does the following mean.

There is apparent duplication of the superior sagittal sinus from mid portion of the sinus near the vertex posteriorly to a position slightly to the right of the expected location of the torcula. Sinus on the right drains into the right transverse sinus while the sinus on the left appears to drain into the right occipital sinus. There is drainage of the left transverse sinus in the midline to the area of the occipital sinus on the left which subsequently drains into the sigmoid sinus. The occipital sinus on the right also appears to join the left occipital sinus before joining the sigmoid sinus on the left. These findings are variants of normal.

Hi,

The findings do not appear to be abnormal. These findings indicate a developmental defect in the brain without any clinical implications as they are being considered as variants of normal.
Hope this helps!
