3 1/2 year old just diagnosed with farsightedness

His doctor is and O.D. and is not exclusively pediatric but does see a number of children.  What does O.D. mean?  Do I need to have my 10 and 7 years olds screened for this or are they past the age?

O.D. stands for "Optometric Doctor" or optometrist. They are not MD (doctor of medicine).   ODs do not go to medical school, they are not physicians. Your children should be under the care of a MD ophthalmologist, ideally a pediatric ophthalmologist.

If your 10 and 17 year old have amblyopia it is almost impossible to treat at that age. Nevertheless they should be screened to make sure.
