13 day pregnancy test

by CarynsLH, Jul 22, 2008 01:33PM
My wife took a blood test the day before her actual test is to be taken post IVF. She had blood drawn today with a HCG of 59. Does this seem normal being that it's a little early?

She's an RN, but extremely nervous about the biochemical pregnancy stuff. The Doc had said not to test prior to coming in (tomorrow Morning), but having access to a lab, she couldn't wait.....When they talk about HCG levels at, lets say, 14 days or 16 days are they talking from retrieval and fertilization day?

That's a question that we throw around here alot, actually!  I tend to think that the charts, graphs and reports are referring to natural conceptions, so from LMP - IVF makes it difficult because we know exactly when we conceived, unlike most women!  I'd try to check websites that list values for IVF, maybe?

My mom said to me during my pregnancy, which I lost at 8 weeks, that I had the unfortunate situation of having too much knowledge!  I truly feel for your wife - it's hard to know all of the stuff that can go wrong!  Tell her to just try to be good to herself - it's really out of her hands now!

Sending my positive thoughts and prayers to you! =)

Thanks so much. I've told her to look at baby things and quit looking at the computer...so much conflicting info out there.  Good luck to you!

Congrats!  No matter what you tell her, all us girls look at the computer...lol.  Good luck!
