As far as sleeping, they are both still sleeping fine but we have been lucky with their sleeping habits since they were born.
My mom, my mother-in-law and the God parents said rubbing whiskey on their gums helps as well. They all said they did it with their kiddos including me (which might be why I'm such a whiskey drinker). Still haven't tried that one, but you never know!! I turned out ok but these days it would probably be considered abuse and I'll go to jail.
I would TOTALLY not use baby orajel. It actually wears off quickly because babies drool so often and on top of that it has been proven to actually TOUGHEN their gums making it HARDER for the tooth to break through. I asked the pediatrician and he confirmed that is actually not the best choice. I agree with mami...Hylands Teething Tablets are AMAZING! 2-3 tablets...and they are good to go. Plus they are all-natural.
Another recommendation that has worked WONDERS with my daughter that worked with me when I was a baby was baby gherkin dill pickles. If he can hold stuff in his hand and put it in his mouth then just sit there with him and let him go at it. The dill is a natural anesthetic and the cold helps numb too. We also went to walmart and in the baby section that have these little mesh bags with a handle on them...put an ice cube in their and you are good to go.
We are not opposed to medications...but would rather try all the home remedies first so we don't pump her full of meds.
Good luck...my little ones cutting ALL 4 of her 1 year molars and it is ROUGH!
Mami...I will get those hylands teething tablets! Good idea. I think my mom used those...but I can't remember exactly. Awww...poor Jayden...4 top teeth at once! Give that boy a kiss for me! He is just too cute!
Kelly....I can't even imagine twins! You get double of everything...but they are double the blessing I'm sure! =) Jeremiah has been a good sleeper from day one as well, thankfully.
So I am thankful it's not bothering him to the point that he won't sleep. I have heard of the whiskey idea....I am not opposed to it, but I think I will use that as a last resort. I am going to see how it goes here...and play it by ear!
addysmom.....Thanks for the idea of the pickles! I will try that sometime. He is still learning how to hold onto things right now...but he has figured out how to hold onto his blankie...lol. It's too cute. My mom used those mesh bags...they are great! I am going to have to get some and put ice in them. Good idea!! I agree...I am not completely opposed to medications...but I try my best to use natural remedies as well. Thank you! And I hope your little one isn't in too much pain with those molars coming in! awww! Poor thing!
