Oral Herpes - Fear

by CHC126, Jul 22, 2008 05:17PM
Hi, I'm under a immense fear that I have an Herpese virus from a stranger I met this stranger on saturday and she only only kissed my mouth, which involved tounge sucking, that was the only encounter I had with her and from Monday afternoon I feel tired, body ache, dry mouth (dehydrated) and feverish.

Please advsie, is this the symptom of having Herpese (HSV1), if not can you please let me know what are the symtoms of Herpes, and after how many days of encounter you get the virus activated .

Thanks in advance,

Did she have any sores in or around her mouth that you noticed?

I'm not sure why you are thinking herpes, when this could, and most likely is, a run of the mill virus, like the cold or the flu.

Aj - Thanks for your time and response.I haven't observed any sores inside her mouth but some pimple like below her lips, but it didn't sound like a sore for me,if it was then it was definetly healed and I don't it was any sore/pain for her.

Also,If she had sore inside,I think it should be painfull for her and she will not intend to kiss me, am i right?

This is the second time after five years in marriage life, I was been kissed by some one and stupid mistake when I was drunk.

Please let me know what are the symtoms of Herpes? also If the mentioned symptons of me are related Herpes then what is the immediate precaution/treatment I should take .

Thanks a million in advance

You should check out the herpes handbook at www.westoverheights.com and www.ashastd.org for more info on symptoms.  ASHA has good info on oral herpes.

I really think guilt is manifesting here, and you need to focus on working through that rather than wasting time worrying about herpes.

Have you ever tested for herpes?  At least 60% of the population has it, and only about 20-40% of those will ever get a cold sore.

No I haven't tested for Herpes, please let me know what are tests I should take?

Thanks!

Ask for a type specific IgG blood test.

Remember that there is NO reason to freak out if you test positive for type 1, ok?  Most people do.

Dear Aj - You are like a god send to me, I have consulted doctor today and he told there are no signs on me of infecting Herpes. He has drawn blood to test just in case.

My encounter was this past saturday, do you think it is too early for the test ?

Thanks!

by auntiejessi, Jul 23, 2008 05:41PM
Yes, for this encounter it is.  But you will have a baseline result to know if you are negative now, and if you turn up positive later, you'll know its a new infection.

Thanks for your inputs,If it is a new infection then is it possible for me to transmitt to my wife, I'm very concerened as she is pregnet now..:(...

What do you think I should do to avoid transmitting to my wife?

Thanks for your time.

If it is a new infection, you could transmit it to your wife, but keep in mind that its not at all likely.

Perhaps you could tell her you have some weird symptoms and don't want to kiss her or perform oral right now as she is pregnant.

You won't transmit it any other way than kissing or oral sex.

Aj - I'll receive My blood test result on monday, meanwhile I got a chance to talk the person whom I kissed on this past saturday and she told "I'm a soldier and I'm clean
" . I hope she is telling me the truth.

But my symtoms like feeling tired, body aches, feeling feversih (but my thermometer doesn't show I have fever), dry lips freaks me out about Herpes. Please advise these symtoms are sign of Herpese.

Also, I have read online that oral herpese window time is b/w 2-20 days after the expouser. Is that true? If so this is my 5 th day and symptoms I mentioned above sounds like I have Oral Herpese? and When I can lead a normal sex life with my wife.I hate to infect her?

Please please give me your wise inputs.

Thanks in advance

Some of those can be symptoms of herpes, but the dry lips wouldn't be.

You can resume sexual activity with your wife now, but I would avoid oral sex and kissing until the symptoms go away.

I wonder how much of your symptoms are due to stress - fatigue, aches, etc., surely can be from stress.
