Anyone have the same pain?

by bnlgirll, Jul 22, 2008 07:03PM
For years now I have been dealing with autonomic dysfunction. I have a cardiac pacemaker and a Gastric pacemaker. As one thing at a time gets attacked. The latest is I get tingling in my legs and arms/hands. I as of about 8 months ago have extremely painfull legs. It almost feels like I'm just walking on bones. Extreme pain in feet, ankles, legs, and knees sometimes hips and low back. I'm so scared it's going to spread to other parts of my body. I have tried Baclofen, lyrica, and tramadol. Currently they have me on percocet as needed but don't like to take it only if i'm in tears which is 1-2 times a week. Anyone eles with this same problem??

I have not met of anyone with the same DX. I assume the numbness, tingling and and the painful legs, feet, ankles, etc is related to your dysfunction. I would encourage you to take the pain medication that your physician RXed. I would not wait till I was in tears. Many of us also did not want to take pain mediction. If if eases your pain and allows you to function why do you not wish to take it? I am sorry for you that you are in so much pain and that you have to deal with autonomic dysfunction. And I am sorry that I don't have a lot of information on your dysfunction but many others will answer you with better information. Take Care, Tuck

Hi bnlgirl

I agree with tuck, I would also suggest taking your pain meds. I can defenitly understand your not wanting to take them. It took me a long time to take them the way I was supposed to. But once I did it helped alot. I dont know your exact reason for not wanting to take the percocet but pain if its left untreated can keep rising and rising so when you wait so long to take something it becomes harder to gain any control over the pain.
Have you talked to your DR about taking something that is time released so you have consistant pain control instead of a rollar coster a short acting med can cause.

I hope you can talk to your DR about your apprehention to take the meds and begin to feel less nervous or afraid to take them.
You deserve to be as pain free as possible.
