Finally got my date for my thyroid surgery

by TXMomOfFaith, Jul 22, 2008 07:14PM
I am scheduled to have my entire thyroid removed on September 5th. That is on a
Friday and she said it would be in the afternoon because he sees patients during the day. I am happy that is on a Friday because that will give me the weekend to rest. I have two children who I stay at home with so I don't know if I will feel well enough by Monday to do take care of the kids or not. I may have see if my mother can take off and drive the three hours up here so she can stay at home with me on the following Monday. Anyway, the 5th seems like a long time to wait but I suppose I just have to wait.

hugs to you dear and I hope your mammo and other things turn out fine too.

Sept 5th will be here before you know it.  Try to enjoy the rest of the summer, and absolutely, ask you Mom to help you out that week - you'll need the help - trust me!  Its not overly painful, but you will be tired and the more you rest the quicker your body will heal.

Good luck!

I am so glad that they finally have you scheduled!

Please let us know about the mammo (even if this isn't the breast care forum - we still care!)

Glad to hear that.  It probably seems far off but I hope it's sooner than you throught it would be.

I'd like to suggest one thing based on having had a gallbladder surgery scheduled in the afternoon:  Eat dinner the night before later than you normally would becuase it's a long stretch of time before you wake up and are able to eat again.  Even then, it's only...well, let me ask you this - what's your favorite color Italian Ice?

Good luck.

I love brain fog!  It's great when 'because' becomes 'becuase.'  I thank whomever here taught me that term.  It helps to laugh at myself (as the saying goes: if you can laugh at a situation, you can't fear it).  Like I could laugh yesterday when I almost forgot my keys and the cashier had to broadcast for everyone to hear!

BTW - I like red Italian Ice, myself.  Yellow is the default.
