inappropriate touching

My 7 year old daughter has been accused of touching another girl (6) inappropriately.  I recieved a phone call from the girls' father and he said she did this and he filed a police report. I agree that these girls cannot play together anymore but I am not sure about the police report. yes, I know this is a serious matter and I am not taking it lightly by any means. I just want to know what led up to this and what I can do as a parent to help my daughter. We are obviously not raising her to think this type of behavior is acceptable. I just don't know what would cause her to do this. I don't know if any otherkids actually saw this happen or if this other girl just told her parents about it-this was not communicated to me in the brief phone call.
To make matters worse, I am or was freinds with the girls' mother and both of her kids are the only other two kids at our bus stop when school starts. I am wanting to schedule a counseling appt for my daughter but what else can I do?

Once the police investigate,  you'll know more.  These two girls are the same age - 6 and 7 are not different age groups,  and unless your daughter attacked the other girl (unlikely) they are in denial that their daughter engaged in sexual experimentation.

Have you talked to your daughter about it?  What does she say happened?
