This patient support community is for discussions relating to pregnancy and childbirth in women age 18 to 34.
I also like this one Who Can Make The Mother-To-Be's Baby: (Materials - Baby magazines, Scissors, Glue, Paper). Have the women group up into teams of 3 and give each 3 baby magazines. Have them cut out pieces of different baby qualities and put together a picture of what they think the Mother-To-Be's baby will look like. Have the Mother-To-Be pick which baby would possibly look like hers the best! Give prizes to the winning team! One of the top baby shower games!
Pass the Dirty Diaper: (Materials- diaper, chocolate, music player). One of our "dirtiest" baby shower games is for the host to take a diaper that has been "fixed" with warm chocolate in the right place and have the woman pass it to the woman next to them (make sure everyone is in a circle). When the host stops the music, whomever is holding the diaper is out of the game.
Whose Water Breaks First (Materials - Medium size plastic babies, Clear disposable cups that will fit the plastic babies). This game is a great and fun game given to us by visitor Alejandra. Prior to the day of the baby shower, fill each of the cups with water enough to cover the plastic baby toys at least halfway (since they may float). Place the cups in the freezer until frozen stiff (you need to prep the night before). The day of the baby shower party, give a cup to all the women who attend the shower as they arrive. Whoever can melt the water the quickest or their water breaks gets the prize. The baby shower attendees can try to melt by blowing hot air on it or putting it in the sun (everything goes, let them get creative). It's a game that everyone can play at the baby shower no matter what age or physical limitation they may have. Alejandra tells us at, "Once had a guest try to outsmart me and place the cup in the microwave but the plastic cup melted in the microwave and she was eliminated from the game (ha ha ha ha it was tooo funny)."
i googled it hehe i didn't have fun games but i liked these and thought you might also =]
hey, while i'm thinkin of it, does mom or the hostess(es) play all the games? or what? i've done 1 shower, and we didnt, but i'm just curious.....
We're gonna play the safety pin game. Everyone gets a safety pin and if that person says Baby (or you can play where they lose if they cross they're arms OR legs) they get they're safety pin taken away.
At the end the person with the most safety pins wins a prize.
(In my case it's gonna be $5 starbucks gift cards)
I'm also holding a raffle. In order to get in each person brings 1 small package of newborn huggies or wipes.
They're name goes into a drawing, and the winner gets a $15 gift card.
I also like the game where you put cotton in a bowl, place it on your lap, blind fold the person, then another person holds a bowl on top of there head, the blind folded person takes a wooden spoon and try s to scoop the cotton balls in the bowl, the person with the most wins. Sounds easy but its not.
of course the baby bingo, fill in the blank
1. We all got a clothes pin on our shirts and was told NOT to say BABY throughout the whole baby shower. Let me tell you how hard it was not to say "baby" when it came time to opening the gift and reading the cards out loud. Who ever was heard saying the word BABY would get their clothes pin taken from them from the person who heard them/and who ever got to their clothes pins first. The person at the end of the shower with the most clothes pins is the winner.
2. We all got name tag on the back of our shirt with baby items or things like-Diaper, car seat, rattle, baby food and mine was powder. But we weren't allowed to see what was on our back for the whole baby shower. Then we played a game where one person would have to ask the group of people 20 question and try to guess what item was stickered on our back. The person who asked the least amount of questions and guess what was on their back is the winner.
3. We played a game where we would draw on a drawing board of what ever we picked out of the hat we had to draw things like: Baby Shower, Security Blacket, Night Light and so on. We were placed into two teams and who ever guess what it was that the person drew on the drawing board with the least amount of time won a prize.
4. There was a game of four brown bags filled with a baby items and we could not see inside we just had to feel the bag and guess what item was in the bag. Number all the bag and give each person and pen and paper to guess whats in each bag. Everybody has 10 seconds to feel the bag. Who ever guesses the most correct wins a prize.
5. We all had to do a baby word search who ever finished the baby word search the fasts wins.
6. The was also a game where everybody sat in a circle and we had to throw a toy bear around and when the bear is thrown at you, you have to shout out a baby item or anything to do with a baby in under 5 seconds. If you don't you're out. The last person in the circle left wins a prize.
Plus there are many more games you could play.
guess what kind of baby food it was. my aunt crossed off the names of the baby food on the side of the container and we had to guess whether container # 1 was green beans etc. there was like 6 different kinds that ranges from peas, to banana,s to pears etc.
then my aunt did the funniest thing. She put different strong smelling items, like garlic, peanut butter and other things inside taped up diapers and people had to smell them and guess what was in them.
I've done a couple baby showers and one of the BEST and most simple games was to rip out a calendar from the month you're due and have people write their name on the date they think you'll have baby. Then after baby is born, they get one of those crazy awesome giftcards to a restuarant or something.
Funny thing is that we did this at MY shower and I guessed the correct date our daughter would be born so *I* won a $25 giftcard to Macaroni Grill. It was our first date after baby was born!!! So that was really cool!
1.) For a variation of bingo, make your own bingo cards w/common gifts (pacifier, recieving blanket, bottle, grooming supply, diapers, onsie, etc...) and pass out the bingo cards when it's present-opening time. As mom opens presents that are on the bingo cards, people cross them off! It helps people not be bored during present time, too.
2.) Memory Tray - Place miscellanious baby items (at least 15-20; think pacifier, teething ring, baby food, baby spoon, baby hanger, q-tips, sock, etc...) on a tray, cover w/a blanket, and place it on a large table that everyone can gather around. When it's game time get a timer ready w/45 seconds on it. Uncover the tray, start the timer and have people look at the tray. When the timer goes off, cover it again. Set the timer again for 45 seconds and people now write down what they saw on the tray. The person who remembers the most items gets a prize!
3.) You can have several things setting out on different tables/surfaces that people can do at their leisure, such as:
a.) "Guess the Number of __" - place a bunch of cloth diapers, onsies, or whatever item you choose into a large container with a lid. Have a pad of paper next to the container and a basket for people to put their guesses.
b.) "Guess How Much This Baby Weighs" - If you have an old doll or something, find a way to add weight to it (I had an old plastic baby doll from my childhood that had a place for batteries in the rear; we filled that space with marbles). Set it next to a clipboard with a sheet of paper for people to write their names and how much they think baby weighs. It's amazing to see how different people's guesses are!!
4.) Take the labels off about 10 jars of baby food (or more) and number the tops with a permanent marker 1-10. Give everyone a peice of paper (perhaps on the back of a wordsearch, another game you can play) to write down their guesses as to what food it is.
Another great idea is to have a basket full of pre-cut cards and pens and ask people to write a little something to the new baby, or the new parents. You can collect them at the end and put them in a scrapbook.
Have a blast - showers are so much fun! :)
