Itching for 5 months

by Karrie500, Jul 23, 2008 02:57AM
My vagina started itching a lot after having unprotected sex.  I would say it itches the most around the opening of the vagina, but it also itches a lot inside the labia minora and slightly less so on the labia majora.  I got about 5 red bumps around the vaginal opening that hurt and itched and went away in a week or two.  I hadn't noticed any other symptoms besides burning urination, which only happens after I've thoroughly scratched up my skin through itching or sex.

I thought this might be HPV or herpes, but now I have had this bad itch (which seems to get worse when I itch it.  If I ignore it it stops itching) for the past 5 months, which is 4 months after the bumps went away and that doesn't seem to follow anything I've read.  Also, I started having sex with another partner through these symptoms, through the bumps and through them peeling off and everyhing, and he hasn't showed any symptoms.

The one thing that was really surprising and I don't know if it is related or not, but after the itching started, penetration was so painful in the back of my vagina, so much that I couldn't have sex for a couple weeks.  It felt like the penis put a lot of painful pressure deep in my vagina, like he was hitting the end, which had never happened before.  The next month it only hurt for the first couple seconds and then went away.  The couple months after that it hurt for the first few seconds only half the time, then a quarter of the time, and now it never hurts.

As a side note, I sometimes get thick white discharge and it smells different than usual.  But I figured it may be because I spend all day in wet swimming suits at water sports competitions.

My symptoms are so far across the board I want to know if I'm looking at herpes or hpv that caused herpes that can lead to something more serious, or if its something else.  And if it seems to be HPV, how likely is it that cancer or something more serious will develop?  Is there a cure for HPV?

go to a doctor because that's a bad yeast infection if it is one. actually HPV can itch but i  don't know much about herpes. what about clymidia? anyway, go to a doctor to make sure it's not an STD anyway because you don't want to give it to your partner. the peeling itching bumps do not sound like a yeast infection to me, but that has to be uncomfortable.
