suboxone

by deceasedwithin, Jul 23, 2008 09:07AM
i received some suboxone from a friend ive been on this board before but i have been abusing oxycontin for about a year around 80-120 mg a day. i had to stop but im afraid of the withdrawal which ive been through before that is the only reason i take again and its a vicious cycle. so today after 24 hours of no opiates and the withdrawals getting more intense i took 4mg of suboxone i'll post later to let ya know how it helped. i have enough for a week do u think i can ween off of my habit with minimal withdrawal with this amount? any info is appreciated

well i was taking up to 60 mg of lortabs a day with oxy here and there. i have a friend that is not prescribed to suboxone. he gave me some..i started out with a whole and eventually weened my self down to 1/4 of one. i did the 1/4 for 8days and have been clean for 2days going on 3. be careful with the suboxone bc u can start to feel dependency with that. thats why i decided after the 8 days were done of taking 1/4 that i would have to deal with it. good luck and let me know if i can help ya with anything else

Hi you shouldn't feel high at all specially with 4mg but that is my opinion, I'm on sub and the first day I took 12mg for 2 days then 10 and so on I do think that you can ween your self with that weeks supply you have you just have to be really strong and suffer a little bit maybe take 2mg if you think 4 was too much and also maybe don't take it every day if you don't have any wd just take it when you are really unconfrontable only like every 30 hrs or so.
Good Luck

Just a note to caution you not to end up with a worse addiction than the one you were on.   Sub is wonderful as long as you only stay on it for less than 21 days - - otherwise you could end up in trouble.   You need to begin withdrawing almost immediately with a definite quite date and schedule for use.  It will help with the W/D's but if you allow it to get out of control you will find it much harder to withdraw from that the Narco or Oxy.

First, your name.  It makes me cry, so I can only imagine how YOU feel.

Please monitor your question for replies, because there are many wonderful people on here that can help both with taper suggestions and how the initial use of suboxone can effect you.  Too much, too little?

People will need to know what your supply of suboxone is. You said a weeks worth, so is that 7 2mg pills, 14 2mg pills? How many 2 mg pills?

Suboxone is probably best used under the guidance of a doctor/psychiatrist.  On initial visit the doctor gives you say 4 mg, you wait 30 minutes, and if withdrawals are gone fine, but if not, then another 4 mg.  In other words, the initial dosage should be just enough to stop withdrawals.  I've heard pf some starting at 16mg or more per day, up to the maximum of 32mg, the maximum dosage.  Then one starts tapering from there.

ochooked is right, keeping sub use to under 21 days is usually preferred, so that one does not get hooked on sub. Your current supply of one week would, of course, not get you addicted to sub, but you would be on a fast taper off sub.

Anyway, many people more knowledgeable than I will come along.  My very best to you.

One last thing, deceasedwithin.  You said you were afraid of the withdrawals, and, of course, who wouldn't be?  I might ask you though, which would you be more afraid of, continuing to be deceased within or the withdrawals?  Withdrawals, as bad as they are, both physical and mental, do not last.  Being deceased within, and perhaps eventually on the outside, will last forever.  Many people on this site have wonderful recovery stories.  There is hope.  There is a wonderful life ahead for you.  Please be less afraid of the withdrawals.  Go for it with all of your heart and soul. I wish eventually to hear that you have changed your name, to "Alivewithin", or "Ihavemylifeback", or "Happywithin", or something wonderful like that. Please do this for yourself, for those that love you.  There really is no other choice.

We will all be rooting for you. Please stay on here and keep us abreast of your progress.  The support you will receive here on this site will be invaluable.

4 mg may be too much for 80-120 mg of oxy.....I have been talking to my pain mgt doctor and have been kinda researching the sub...not for me just as an interest...he prescribes it....0.3 mg of sub = 10 mg of morphine...oxy is not as strong/just a bit weaker/than morphine...2 mg is what my friend ended up taking and her habit was 150 -200 mg of oxy a day....she started at 16 mg like her doc told her and she felt horrible for days as it has a long half life...it took her 3 days before she felt better....she went down to 4 mg and then to 2 mg...stayed on it for 8 days as it will continue in ur system for a few more days...u dont want to take enuf to get high...just enuf to not feel wds...good luck...if it is a 8 mg pill....it may be enuf for 4 days...but everyone is different

thanks for all the input
this is how its been going so far,
day 1 i took 4 mgs and got pretty nauseas
day 2 took 2 mgs still felt a little funny
day 3 i took 1 mg and feel slight withdrawals
but im going to keep it at one for the next two days then i have two more 2 mgs left
im just hoping its enough to get me through the worst of it then i have to tough it up from there on, thanx for the support
i wish i  never got to feel what it was like to be on oxy, **** changed my life forever

by worried878, Jul 25, 2008 09:47PM
try 1 mg twice tomorrow then u will have 1 mg left....try 1/2 mg twice a day or 1 mg each day..u would be fine to jump off the sub after such short low dose usage...it will linger for a couple of days in ur system

It' can dangerous to take this drug even under a doctors care but it worse when another addict gives it to you and you just wing it. Bad idea taking someone else's sub.

by worried878, Jul 25, 2008 10:30PM
agree with mr Lucky...seems as if most doctors dont know much about this drug either...just a dangerous way to skip a week of feeling bad....risky business....i should have added it to my post but i guess i figured the deed is gonna be done so????I do not need to get in the habit of gving out advice to people who r not using their doctors advice or who are not even using a doctor...it is illegal and i should have my hand slapped...would u slap it for me Mr lucky  LOL

by worried878, Jul 25, 2008 10:32PM
and i am not really a sub advocate except in rare cases so give me 2 slaps on both hands for that/...it is the nurse in me that comes out as i want to help i guess.

by mr.lucky66, Jul 25, 2008 10:57PM
ha, I don't want to slap any hands. I just want people to realize that exchanging pills is a dope fiend move and even worse with suboxone

by flmagi, Jul 26, 2008 06:51AM
The end result is what you're after.....Getting clean.  Do it how ever you have to.  If this is how you have to do it....do it.  Good luck to you. And, Yes, the sub you have and they way you're doing it, should allow you to skip past the worst of the withdrawels. After you stop the Sub... after a week, you'll experiance the same symtoms of withdrawels as you would have at a week, if you had gone cold turkey. So you can expect, lack of energy, maybe some sleeplessness etc. Suboxone will not help with the mental part of the addiction......that is something you'll need to work on.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

thanx for the info magi i hope so i can handle the symptoms after a week just not the first 5 or so days that is half the reason id always go back. as for getting pills is a dope fiend move obviously i am having issues with drugs or i wouldnt be using suboxone at all. i saw it as a way to get past the worst days and hopefully be able to stick with it after that, probably not the best idea to not see a dr of course but with the amount of money ive spent on oxy spending 10 dollars for a week of suboxone didnt sound too bad, i could have of course bought more oxy but when he mentioned he had those i didnt think i should pass up the chance

Its crazy the drug dealer has the disease and the cure for sale.....

by deceasedwithin, Jul 26, 2008 04:32PM
To: everyone
haha yea its ****** up i know.  i will say so far i still feel ok im only on 1 mg a day so far going to cut down even a little more tommorrow but i have been getting pretty sick the last few days, not  withdrawal sick where i want to be dead but vomiting and stomach aches.

by mr.lucky66, Jul 26, 2008 08:29PM
That's good, the dealer has the disease and the cure, well not really sub is no cure, it just buys you time or helps you postpone the inevitable. I have seen some sites (maybe this one?), where they had ads for detox and sub and also ads alongside selling narcotic pain pills online. Sometimes I think it's all about making a buck and the people who sell these cures don't really care if you stop or not.
