HCG Shot/Pregnant

by Babybaw4, Jul 23, 2008 10:47AM
HI Everyone. I have a question I had took 1-PG test last night and showed up ++ I took another this morning using first morning urine and came up ++ I went and bought a Clear Blue Easy Early Test Digital and came up instantlt Pregnant.. I am ready excited so I called my doc as thinking I should go for blood work and she just kind of yelled saying that it may be false as the HCG shot takes 7-10 days out of your system. Well hello its out of my system and my Mensus should of started yesterday.. Nurse claimed that my period isnt due until Saturday! She is only going by my charts dont you know your own body.. What a way to crush you when your feeling so excited.. She is suppose to pull my chart and will call me back.. Anyone else experience this?

The nurse is 100%!! HCG can stay in your system 14 days after administered.  It is usually safe to take hpt around the same time as your expected period to get an accurate reading.  HCG will definately give you a false positive and will only lead to a huge let down.  I had one on July 14th and was instructed not to take one till July 30th.

Keep me posted.

What is an HCG test supposed to do for you?

by Houston79, Jul 23, 2008 12:51PM
Hi guys.  BabyBaw4-that nurse is such a debbie downer!   Go get your labs done and find out what your HCG number is.   I'm sure you're PG.  Don't worry. Stay happy like you were.

Griggsy-the HCG test is a blood draw and basically it tells you how much pregnancy hormone you have in your body.  That hormone number is supposed to double every 48-72 hours.

What a downer.... well I checked with my best friend, GOOGLE, and it looks like trigger shot should be out of your system within 10 days.  The nurse is probably just covering her bases.  You can see from other posts on medhelp too that others got their BFP 14 days after trigger shot and it was a real BFP.

Congratulations to you.  You must be so excited!

When I get my IUI's or when I administer a trigger shot, the nurse tells me to test in 14 days.  Congratulations girl......it sounds like you are pregnant!!!!!

Here's to a happy and healthy nine months!

I think you should jus go take a blood test anyways because thats what happened to me and i was preg

I haven't heard of getting an HCG shot, I always thought you just produced it once you're pregnant. I know a lot, but since this hasn't been suggested to me from my doc I haven't thought twice about it.

Why would you get an HCG test, if you're not pg?

Thanks everyone for responding.. It should be out of my system by now I had my HCG Shot on July 8 and I just tested yesterday my Period was due yesterday being 28-days I am sure the nurse was CYA which is fine. My friend had to give herself HCG shots in her stomach and she was 6-days out from just giving her one and she tested way to soon and was PG she got her blood work done and she was in fact PG.. I guess everyone is different and bummed me out about what the nurse said but I will see tomorrow what will transpire and see if I am right.,.

HcG shot is an injection given intramuscularly (sp?) and it triggers ovulation.  When your doctor feels you have enough follicles and they are big enough, they will tell you to do your "trigger" shot to help the follices mature and rupture.  (ovulate) This happens 36-40 hours later....sometimes sooner than that, sometimes later.  Just depends.   So it isn't an HcG test, it is something to trigger ovulation.

Oh i hope you get your miracle.  God Bless.

I have had a trigger shot, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is called. It isn't intermuscular shot, but it triggers ovulation. I take it 36 hours prior to my IUI.

I'll look at the name and see what it is.
