Quick Input ...

by nikko*ttc, Jul 23, 2008 11:55AM
I am 15 weeks preggers this week. Today, I have had the most awful headache. I have been more nauseous since last night than I have been my entire pregnancy. I am finding that I am easily distracted because of the discomfort right now. I know that I am well hydrated, I drink about 2 liters of water a day and right now about 4-5 tall glasses of milk (seems to be newest craving). I have taken some tylenol, but feel absolutely awful due to the nausea. Should I be worried and call my OB, or just pull on my "big girl pants" and suck it up?

I have never been one prone to headaches, but during my 13th and 14th week, I got one every other day or so.  It was awful!  The Tylenol I took would help a little, but never made them go away all the way.

Your increased nausea could be caused in part by your headaches ...I think if your headache doesn't subside after taking the Tylenol, you could call your OB and ask his/her opinion.  Your OB may tell you to just lay down and try to relax, or he/she may have you come in.

I hope you feel better soon!

I know this sounds crazy but I had the same problem with headaches all of the time.  But I posted the same question and one of the responses I got was to put vicks on your forehead and your temples, it took it a second to work but it did help.  I was desperate so I was trying everything.  Give a try when you are at home and see if it works for you.  Tylenol did nothing for me.  Good Luck.

I hear that you shouldn't use vicks during pregnancy...

You could have a migrane.. I know I never got them until I got pregnant and then I got one so bad I couldn't even work, I had to go home, get a cold wet washcloth, turn off the lights and lay in my dark quiet room until it went away.. My dad gets migranes frequently and when they get really bad they can make you nausious or make you throw up.. Well good luck

I have been having terrible headaches too.. I asked my doctor and he basically said rest and take tylenol.. Uggh. I feel for you though, it's awful!

I get migranes often, l have had them my whole life. Being pregnant is not fun with them, since I can't take any of my usual medicines. The newest trick I have learned it take a wet washcloth, heat it up in the microwave to as hot as you can stand it, and put it directly where it hurts. I know the cold feels much better, but trust me, do it a couple times, it helps immensely. The nauseousness is likely because of the headache, if I let mine go too long without treating it, I always puke! HTH
